FIA ELECTRO-SOLAR CAR ROUND 4
DREAM CUP SOLAR CAR RACE SUZUKA 2001

From July 27th to 29th, the Yomiuri Shinbun, Suzuka Circuitland co., ltd. and Japan Automobile Federation (JAF) will hold “FIA ELECTRO-SOLAR CUP ROUND 4 DREAM CUP SOLAR CAR RACE SUZUKA 2001” at Suzuka Circuit in Mie prefecture.

Dream Cup, which began in 1992 with the slogan, making eco-friendly automobiles will be in its 10th year this year. This race, which is the only race in Japan held at an international race circuit, is highly supported every year by our participants, and this past year attracted a total count of 92 solar and electric vehicle cars from around the country. Internationally, it is praised highly by FIA, MIT, Stanford University and other related organizations.

It is said that in recent years junior and high school students are drifting away from the sciences. We hope to be able to spread the joy of trying to develop new technology and the fun that comes with creating something through the development, manufacturing and racing of solar cars.

Honda Motor co., ltd., the main sponsor of this competition and a pioneer in solar car manufacturing is also the first champion of this race and the creators of "HONDA DREAM", which has left memorable results including the win at the World Solar Challenge.

It is our wish that all participants do their best to try to create their dream car of the future that may become the next "HONDA DREAM". We hope that drivers and pit crew will become one to tell dramatic stories at this summer Dream Cup where the cars will bathe in unlimited solar energy and keep racing down the circuit.
